Top Ten DO's and DON'Ts of Resumes
- Do not use personal pronouns (I, Me, My)
- Do have someone else proofread your resume for typos/errors
- Do include a working telephone number on your resume attached to a professional voice mail message (Your voice, not your kids!)
- Do outline your accomplishments, going beyond a basic duty statement
- Do focus your resume to the positions/field you are applying for
- Do follow up on your resume if you have contact information
- Do not include a photo
- Do not include personal information (i.e. your religion, your marital status or your race)
- Do include dates for your employment (not matter what!)
- Do include interests and activities that will demonstrate general leadership capabilities
