How to Gain Leadership skills?
A good supervisor understands his or her strengths and weaknesses. If you want to move into a leadership position, take some career self-assessments. Learn about your leadership style and find out what you will need to do to be an effective leader.
Look for opportunities to lead in your community activities or professional associations. Practice the basics of interpersonal communication, delegation and time management. Read books like “The Boss’s Survival Guide” by Bob Rosner. Ask your current supervisor for feedback on your supervisory capability and try to expand your job into more responsible roles. Also, look for role models. Most leaders learned most of their skills from mentors who showed them the way.
